Unit 1 Inventory task

Unit 1 Inventory Task

Fallout 3

The inventory in fallout 3 is weight based inventory where you are limited to a weight that you can carry, each item has weight some weighing more or less than others. You can also upgrade your inventory in the game to increase the weight that you can carry. The user interacts with the inventory by using the controller. You press a button on the controller to bring it up and then you can cycle through the different menus using the controller. Through the inventory you can access the items that you have and you can also upgrade the attributes that you have such as speech and repair. The inventory suits the game play very well because it suits the environment that the game is set in as the game is set in a wasteland and the inventory looks old and like it’s made with old parts. I think that this inventory is very good because I like the way it looks and the way that you interact with it. This may influence my design because I like the way that you access the inventory and the way it looks.
Skyrim:

The inventory in skyrim is a weight based inventory where the player is limited by the items they can carry by the maximum weight they can carry. Each item weighs a different amount, you can also increase the amount of weight that you can carry by upgrading the stamina stat when you level up. Within the inventory the player can control the items that they are carrying, they can equip or drop the items. The player can access the inventory by pressing B then going to inventory. I think that the inventory suits the game play very well because it is transparent so you can see the background in skyrim. I really like the skyrim inventory because it looks good, suits the game play very well and you can access a lot of stuff from it. This may influence my design because I like how it is transparent so the can see the game in the background.

Minecraft

The inventory in minecraft is a limited inventory type to where you are limited to the items you can carry. The user can interact with the inventory by pressing the E key on their keyboard, this brings up the inventory menu where the player can move things around the inventory by clicking them. Within the inventory the player can control the items that they are carrying. They can also control the armour they are wearing by dragging a piece of armour to the armour menu next to the player, they can also craft items in the inventory by using the 2x2 square. I think that the inventory suits the game play because there are no round edges everything is square just like it is when it is in the game. I don’t like the inventory in minecraft because I think that it is very boring as it has no colour to it and the layout is also boring. This may influence my design because I like how you can see your character.

Sword of the stars the pit:

The inventory in SOTS the pit is a sized based inventory where you are limited to whatever you can fit in the inventory. Some items are bigger than others so therefore they will take up more space in the inventory. I like this inventory because you have to think about how to layout your items to make more space. The user can move the items around by clicking in them. The user can open the inventory by pressing the start key. I think that the inventory suits the game play because it looks scfi, which is what the game is about. I like this inventory a lot because I like how it is size based and I also like the way it looks. this may influence me on my inventory
